| Millennium project was inspired by the extraordinary attention with which the year 2000 was first anticipated and then lived through around the world, only to be taken over by the following years and eventually forgotten like many years before and after it.
Time passed by diluting the excitement, but the Millennium project remains as a mark of the period when at least for a while extraordinary attention was paid to the time.
Outstanding in its scope, it begs for contemplation on time, change, nature of human understanding of various phenomena, and as many other subjects as one may think of while gazing at the sky.
The project consists of thirteen paintings, twelve of which contain an image of the sky for each day of the month, taken at exactly the same time of the day from exactly the same spot.
The thirteenth canvas is a cityscape of Vancouver, showing the section of the sky above it that was the subject of each of the 365 images. |
